The name Live Wire is a holdover from the original sailboat rigging company I started in 1992. In 1998, when I transitioned from splicing and swaging to writing and editing (with the occasional graphic design twist), I couldn’t think of a name I liked better, so I kept it.
Sixteen years later, after two new clients found it confusing to write checks out to a business name instead of my name, I dropped Live Wire from most of my invoices. But like a no longer needed maiden name, it still reminds me of where it all began.
